ABOUT ME
Unlike many, I did not start drawing/painting when I was a child or teen. I also did not attend college for an art degree. I actually have an Associates in Science, Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Masters in Automotive Engineering. So now you are probably questioning the whole left brain versus right brain theory, right? After working in Engineering for many years, I went back to school to obtain a degree in Interior Design. I took an elective class titled, “Intro to Design”. This class was not what I was expecting at all. It was more of an art class, but when you really think about it interior design and art have a lot in common. You have to consider, color, composition, placement, size, …… In the end, the professor told me I was very talented and that I needed to smile more! I didn’t really start painting until later in life. I initially took a few lessons using oil paint from a friend in her home. I must admit however, she was quite mean and when she didn’t like what I was doing, she would grab the brush out of my hand and holler, NO, NO, NO!!! It wasn’t until I moved to The Villages 8 years ago that I really started painting. I currently enjoy painting in acrylics, oils, mixed media work, pastels, pen/pencil, acrylic inks, watercolor.…. I get bored easily, so I like to switch up my media and subject matter. Finally, I’ll add that my mother loved to paint using oils, although I never watched her paint and she never gave me any lessons.
